At Australia Post, the Postal Address File (PAF) is used as the database of record (DBOR) defining the collective set of addresses in Australia which are considered to be "deliverable" by Australia Post.   This is certainly a comprehensive source of addresses which are used by Australia Post to define where letters, parcels or other deliverable postal items can be sent. If the address you have on file is not in the PAF file, then chances are your costly mail items wont reach their target.

 The Australia post core database was used in constructing the definitive PAF file, and this has been collated, refined, and matching has been continually conducted against these reference sources in order to support deliverability aspects of mail processing.   The PAF file not only defines a deliverable address in Austrlia, and cities in Australia like Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth - but also the corresponding  AMAS-approved barcodes and Address matching software ensures that the addresses in the Australia Post PAF file are always identified as positive matches in the address matching software used by DVS.
