Content Management System SEO & PageRank
How to do SEO if you’re using a Content Management System
As mentioned above, there are various extensions and plugin software for
popular content management systems which help with SEO on these tools.
These tools allows page titles, meta descriptions and keywords to be
controlled separately on each page. Salsa are a specialist provider
of these tools and expertise for the Joomla Content Management
System. Contact Salsa for more information on optimising your Joomla
site. Joomla has many different plugins and modules which can be used
to great effect to improve website SEO.
PageRank™ – how to maximise PageRank™ on your important pages
Increasing the PageRank™ of your pages is mostly a function of both good on-site
optimisation of that page, and also the number of quality in bound
links which point to that page ie all the techniques listed above.
Once
your page achieves a good PageRank™, then the pages that it links to
receive the benefit of this PageRank™ ie it is passed on. Therefore
the interior links on your website ie what links you have from one page
on your website, to other pages on your website can affect how the
PageRank™ of your site is distributed.
The mathematics behind
this can become very complex, but a simple strategy for ensuring the
most important pages on your website receive the most PageRank™ is to
setup a “Footer” on your website which is common across all pages, and
which points to the most important pages on your website. Choose 4 –
6 pages on your site which you feel showcase your products and services
most effectively. Typically the home page itself and the Contact Us
page would be included in this. This common footer displayed across
the whole site then ensures that each page on the site is distributing
some of its own PageRank™ to these key product or service pages.
See
http://www.salsainternet.com.au for an example of these footer links in
action. Linking to your sitemap from the home page is also
recommended for the reasons explained earlier in this document.
